Asian parents are usually stereotyped as being overbearing and overprotective, but there is a relation between these stereotypes and the actual accountability of an Asian kid. Show responsibility in every way. Don’t lie completely about your grades – explain to them that an 85 and a 95 both constitute 4.0 GPA’s, and that’s why your 86 average is nothing to worry about. Do your own laundry. Show parents your financial plans for the next 5 years. Take grandma out for dimsum sometime, especially if you need to really need to show accountability at a certain point (eg. After breaking a curfew.)
See this as an opportunity to learn how to be accountable in the real, corporate world.
